About the Artist

Alk Watson

Having studied both Fine Art and Ecology, my artwork combines these interests.

My landscape paintings are deeply influenced by the cultural heritage and personal connections I form with each subject, evoking a sense of place and history.

Meanwhile, my nature paintings draw inspiration from the pioneering photography of Eadweard Muybridge and the taxonomic illustrations of artists including Jonathan Kingdon, bridging the gap between artistic observation and scientific study.

My illustrative watercolour style, builds translucent paint gradually, in delicate layers. This technique not only gives a sense of motion and texture to each piece but also highlights the intrinsic elements involved in their creation, ultimately bringing each unique scene to life.
